I recently swapped to a new computer, and have imported all my old contacts.
They show up just fine in Outlook 2003. However, when I start to write a new email and click one of the To or CC buttons, I get the following error message: "The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have the permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook Help." Since I can see all contacts when I switch view, they are definitely the I have administrator permissions on my computer, and I don't want to delete any folder. I just want to search for my contacts and add them to my email... Could you please help out here? Thanks in advance |

No single question is answered more often in this group. You never import
Outlook data. It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to “lose track” of the connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update your Outlook version or operating system. Use the following steps to reset the connection. Note that in some instances you may actually have to remove the Outlook Address Book completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and then re-add it before you can get it to work. For Outlook 2002/2003: Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is the box to enable as email address book checked? If this is grayed out...Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it. Thanks, your link was helpful. When I went to Tools/Email accounts/View or
change existing directories or address books I realised there were two Outlook Address Books with the same name there. I removed the first one, then retried, and it worked. ![]() Thanks a lot.
