Default address book location

I have my c drive backed up on a portable hard disk. I had to reinstall
outlook on my computer. How do I restore my address book and emails from the
portable drive? I have looked for a .pst file and a .pab file on the
portable drive and cannot find it. Thanks.

I displayed the hidden files and the .pst file still does not show up. If I
did not have it displayed when I did the backup, would it have saved the .pst
file? I thought if I did a full back up of everything on my C drive, it
would save everything.

You MUST have a PST, if you're a home user, or Outlook would not operate.
Ask Outlook where your PST resides. FileData File Management or Control
PanelMailData Files.

Depends entirely on the backup software and how it is configured to operate.

You would not have been using a PAB file. The file you need is your Personal
Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are
stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:
