Default Phone field in contacts

Suddenly the phone field does not open a new field (country, prefix, number,
extension) anymore when I try to edit or mae a new contact. That results in
not being able to store international phone numbers. anyone here who can help
to fix. All other fields are working properly, e.g. the name field.
