Default New Task to Contact and Contact info

I have a Sales guy which is trying to make the switch from Goldmine to
Outlook.

What he would like is to be able to go into contacts and select a
contact. Then choose New Task to Contact under the Actions menu.

What he would expect from his previous Goldmine usage is:
-Add Contact Name to the Subject line so when the Task pops up it
describes who and what it relates to.
-Add the Company name associated with the contact in the Company field
for the Task.
-Be able to setup a view in Outlook - Tasks to view which contacts and
companies are associated with each task.

I have tried to customize the view with the task's using field chooser
to add contact related fields but nothing displays.

Thanks for any help provided.

Right-click the COntact and drag it to the Tasks folder. Release the mouse
button and make the appropriate choice from the context menu.

The contact doesn't carry over to the task any contact information, so you
won't see any data in columns that are associated with contacts when you
view those columns oin the Tasks folder. Instead, perhaps the journaling
feature of Outlook would suit you. (I don't use journaling myself,
however.)

Default New Task to Contact and Contact info

Brian,

I just told the sales guy option of dragging the contact via the right
mouse button to Tasks and then choosing "Copy here as task with text"
and he said that is close enough to want he wanted and will work.

It actually adds the company name which will display in the fields list
for the task view, and the Subject will now be the user name which will
be useful with it pops up as a reminder.

You've been a great help, thanks!!

Joshua
