I am trying to import old .pst files from a hard drive i have connected to a
new computer. The files are from outlook 2003, and the new computer also has the same version. Every time I try to open the old .pst using the 'open data file' option i get an error message and outlook needs to restart. Can anyone help me to retrieve the old contact information? Thanks in advance, Andrew |

Hi Gordon, I did not use the import function - I used the open 'data file'
option and then chose the old pst. from its location. Andrew "Gordon" wrote: "doodles" wrote in message ... I am trying to import old .pst files from a hard drive i have connected to a new computer. I have moved pst to internal HDD, but still getting error message.
Where would read only attribute be? The folder the pst is in does not have any such file. "Gordon" wrote: "doodles" wrote in message ... Have you tried using the Inbox Repair Tool (SCANPST) on the PST? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] The pst repair file by default is located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\ Or C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 To run Inbox repair tool fallow the steps: 1. Click on start goes to the search then click on files or folders option. 2. In search box type scanpst.exe. 3. Double click on the scanpst.exe file to open the inbox repair tool. 4. Then enter the location of Pst file and its name or browse it for the path. 5. Then start to repair. You can also take help of pst repair software to retrieve the old contact information.'Pst recovery' (http://www.stellarinfo.com/outlook-p...e-recovery.htm) software is easy to use and provides robust recovery solution. -- geekhostin |
