Default Phone List Sorting

When I am in the "Phone List" view vs. the Address Card view, you lose the
quick A-Z roller dex listing on the side to quickly jump to the first letter
of the contact group. On one of my computers at work, when I am using Phone
List View and just type a letter, it will automatically jump to that start of
that group of contacts. However on my other computer, that shortcut function
does not work and I can not figure out which setting is allowing the shortcut
feature to be activated. Both systems are running Outlook 2003.

Any help?

If you have your cursor in one contact in Phone List view and press the
letter for the contact you want, it should jump to that letter. However,
you must have your cursor active in a contact for this to work.

Thank you both for the replys. I was not using Outlook Today. I also
verified that once I put the cursor in a contact that did not work either.

However, after I turned off in-cell editing, it worked. Evidently, and I
guess it now makes reasonable sense why, when in-cell editing is turned off,
that shortcut functionality is turned off.

The most common reason this function is lost is using "Outlook Today" as the
default view for the root file. Turn it off.
