Hello,
I recently had a problem in which I had to use the inbox repair tool to repair my .pst file. After which, my address book no longer had the contact information in it. The names were listed, but no information accompanied them. After searching for answers and trying everything from repairs to reinstalls, nothing worked. All the information is in the contact list (folder), but not the address book. Even the "Show this folder as an e-mail address book" option in the folder properties is checked, but grayed out. I desperately need to restore the information, but can't find a method to do it. I can't even print the contact list/information for re-entry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help. |

Do you back up your data?
You need to provide more accurate version information. Outlook 2000 existed in two complete different modes. Which are you using? Corp/Workgroup or Internet Mail Only? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave B" wrote in message ... Hello, I recently had a problem in which I had to use the inbox repair tool to repair my .pst file. Hi Russ,
Thanks for your reply. My Outlook is set up for Internet Mail Only. I have the original .pst file, but it won't open due to it's size. I made a copy of it and used the MS utility to reduce its size and then ran the inbox repair tool on it. Outlook would then open it, but that's when I found that the contact information for the names in the address book was gone. I hope this helps. Thanks again. IMO actually uses Outlook Express for its address book function. Is it just
the address book that's not working? Do your Contacts still have their email addresses? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave B" wrote in message ... Hi Russ, Thanks for your reply. In the contact list, all the information is there. Names, phone numbers,
email addresses, etc. In the address book, only the names are there, no information except for maybe a random phone number here or there. All the email information has disappeared. Unfortunately, there is no known solution for this problem because as I
mentioned, you aren't really using Outlook's transports. You are using Outlook Express'. The only thing I've ever seen work is to open Outlook Express (make sure Outlook is closed), open its address book, and disable sharing. Restart Outlook Express, then re-enable sharing. Close OE, then open Outlook and see if you've been able to reset the addressing service. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dave B" wrote in message ...
