Default I need to split up an Outlook 2003 distribution list

I have a similar question:
I have a large (to me) distribution list that needs to be divided into four
separate groups. I sent the DL as an attachment to myself as a backup. Then I
went into the groups and deleted the appropriate files in the groups.
However, when I checked the list in my contacts each message shows only the
names choosen doring the last editing. As a resuli in my contacts list group
I have only 1/4 of our list.

I have the un-edited DL on the e-mail message I sent to myself - as an
attachment and I have a current copy printed out as well; so I have plenty of
backup.

When I click on the attachment I bring up the full un-edited DL.

I didn't want to manually retype the names in the new groups but it
appearing that this may be my only option.

Is there a way to import the attachment as a DL Group to save that much of
the list?

Using Distribution lists is a frustrating method for ruining your day. Use
categories to group people and then drag the category to the inbox to create
a new mail.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Dick asked:

Thanks Milly I'll give it a try. I should have read further a couple minutes
ago.

As I said I have restoret the original list now I need to divide it into
four. I'll try the Categories.

The reason I need to do this has to do with the number of SMTP contacts by
many ISP's is limited to 40 or 50 and I am getting a lot back and not
reaching all our subscribers.

Thanks again . . . bigtime!

Then I would ask your ISP for an allowance for a particular DL to send as a
business user. Many ISPs will make exceptions for clubs. organizations,
etc. that are organized by private individuals - they just need to set a
rule on their server.
