I have several users that cannot view contacts in their list that were added
from the GAL. I get a message indicating that they are already in the contacts list if I try to add them again. With my account, I do not have this problem on the same workstation. The Exch server is 5.5, and Outlook is 2003 client. |

Where are they looking? In the Address Book? In their Contacts folder? If the latter, is a filtered view in place?

They are adding GAL entries to their contact list in Outlook, and then the
names do not display. Theier are no filters in place within the Outlook client. "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Where are they looking? In the Address Book? In their Contacts folder? So the items are visible in the view, but you can't see the names? What fields can you see? What field contains the name data you can't see? (Compare with other items) Does this occur in all contact folder views? If not, which does it occur in?

They can see the names in the GAL, but cannot see them in the contacts
listing in Outlook. If they try to add them again, they are asked to add a new entry or modify exististing. "cannot see them [the names]" could mean that you see nothing or that you see items without names. Please clarify. And check in multiple contacts folder views.

My apologies for being unclear. Nothing is displayed in the contacts list.
No visable trace of the contact, even if you do a "find". I did check the multiple contact folder view, and only one appears. What I was suggesting is that you view the contacts folder where you put the items with more than one view to see if there is any different behavior with the Phone List view vs. the Address Cards view, for example. You could try Advanced Find, too. (Find is not very helpful for troubleshooting.) Maybe it will turn them up in a different contacts folder from the one where you've been looking.
