Default missing email addresses in outlook 2003

After mothrboard problem,
am using this computer temporarily signed on as as a "user" (other than the
"owner"
I returned to outlook 2003 - entered inbox, left clicked
"new" ; clicked onto address book icon in the "to" portion of the new email
and received this ! message:
"The address list could not be displayed . The contacts folderassociated
with this address list could not be opened. It may have been moved or deleted
or yu od not have permission . For information on how to remove
this folder from the Outlood Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help"

so I cannot access my email list from the little address book icon.
I DO HAVE ALL OF MY CONTACTS and the email addresses are in there
I CAN get a dropdown of email addresses in the "to" of the new email by
typing in a letter, for example, if I type in "D" , mail addresses with
inital
"D's" appear in a drop down.
bUT THE "select names" dialogue box which yields Type Names on the left
(which
appears greyed out )
and "Show Names" on the right (shows nothing in the "contacts" option and
shows
"no entries in the address book" in the Outlook address option.

I hope I have presented my problem clearly.
PLEASE Help TIA
Mendy

Default missing email addresses in outlook 2003

Answered here daily.
It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to “lose track” of the
connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update
your Outlook version or operating system. Use the following steps to reset
the connection. Note that in some instances you may actually have to remove
the Outlook Address Book completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and
then re-add it before you can get it to work.

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book checked?
If this is grayed out...Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change
existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present?
If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed,
then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add
it.
