Hi, I'm running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP, and I have my contacts sorted
into folders under the Contacts folder, but all of the contacts do not show
when I click on the Contacts folder, only those who have not been dragged
into a subfolder show up. Is there a way to "show all contacts"?

If I understand your post correctly, you moved Contacts from one folder to
another but still expect them to show up in the original folder after you
moved them out. Is that correct? I'm not sure I understand the logic of
that. If that's what you want, why didn't you copy them to subfolders
instead of moving them?

Actually Russ, maybe she just wasn't clear enough in his post because I have
a similar issue. You mentioned why didn't he just copy them to subfolders
instead of moving them. Well I have my contacts all organized in different
SUB-folders.

Contacts
- Family
- Friends
- Business
- Etc...

I think it is reasonable to expect that if you were viewing a particular
subfolder then you would only see what that subfolder contains. But if you
are trying to view the upper level "Contacts" folder then you should be able
to view ALL the contacts in ALL the subfolders.

I think Alliee is asking the same thing I am...is there a view that can show
you ALL of the contacts in ALL the subfolders? Or is it possible to make a
view?

The reason I have it configured like this is because this is the only way
that my PDA can categorize the sync'ed contacts (although, unlike Outlook, it
has a built in feature to see them in individual categories or "all contacts")

The reason why I need this view in Outlook is because there are times that I
am unsure whether I have the person in one category or another or if I have
them there at all. Sometimes I have them in more than one category. And I do
have more than one Upper Level tree root contacts container, so the general
search function would go through my entire system which I would prefer to
avoid. Plus, search is Not as comprehensive as a view.

I hope this clarifies the question and one of the MVP-Outlook such as
yourself has a concrete answer for both of us. Thank you!

Views are not the answer to your problem because PDA's cannot synchronize
with views. You need decide exactly what you need and articulate it. There
are many ways to group Contacts. What you need is not at all clear from your
post. I'd suggest reading the primer on the various ways to group Contacts
to see which might work better for you, then post back with any specific
questions this site does not answer:
