Hi
I have copied a WAB out of our SBS and amended it to create a specific marketing contact list. I am about to Import it back, but I am a little hesitant as I don't want to overwrite the exisitng FULL WAB with my cutdown version. If I Import it (and I STOP at this message - "YOU are about to Import Windows Adress Book - WAB- Contacts") I will get an option to name it something along thr lines of Marketing Group - wont I? I use Outlook 2003 with a SBS Windows 2003 email server... regards Rod |

Not possible. Outlook does not and cannot use the WAB format. What made you
think it could? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Rod" wrote in message news ![]() Hi I have copied a WAB out of our SBS and amended it to create a specific marketing contact list. How did I copy a WAB file off our SBS then? I didnt (havent) renamed it.
Perhaps I inadvertently copied an old Oultook Express WAB file - is that what OE used/uses? - that was still sitting on the Server? ALL .pst folders are intact...And now when I hit "Open" on the WAB file it clearly says " YOU are about to Import a Windows Address Book - WAB- Contacts"...you mean if I say OK, it will go nowhere and be unusable? Tks for quick response.... "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Not possible. Outlook does not and cannot use the WAB format. Only OE uses a WAB file. Outlook cannot even import a WAB file.

... I have a Microsft Outlook at home and at work. I have exported my work contacts because I need them on both computers, it exported a wab file at work, Outlook does NOT export to a WAB file. Outlook EXPRESS does. You need to check exactly what you use at work for email and contacts. (Do Help-About in your email client). And in any case, if you are really using Outlook as opposed to EXPRESS then you don't need to export anything. Thirdly, and this is an ethical point - are you authorised by your company to remove contacts from their system to yours? -- Asking a question?
