Hello,
Occasionally I send out an email to everyone in my address book, for example, being christmas I'd like to send a seasons greetings card to everyone. In the past I've been able to do it using the bcc in outlook express so that each recipient doesn't see the entire list of recipients. However, this time I've been running into endless problems. Everytime I send it fails for one reason or another. Some recipients servers are now rejecting the email citing "too many recipients" as a reason. I'm also getting an error as follows: An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Seasons Greetings From Kenny!', Account: ', Server: 'iwfiorga.startlogic.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Blacklisted file extension detected', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC69 I've been trying to send the damn thing for the last 2 hours. I've tried deleting addresses that reject the email. I've tried sending to just a portion of my address book at a time, perhaps a third or a quarter at once. Nothings working. And if one email address is rejected it seems the entire email fails, and none get sent (at least I hope that's the case, or some people are going to receive it a dozen times! Although I don't think that's the case cuz my name was in the list and I didn't receive any) Well, I'm at my wits end and any help out there is welcome. If ya'll can't help me, no one gets a card this year from me... |

... Occasionally I send out an email to everyone in my address book, for example, being christmas I'd like to send a seasons greetings card to everyone. In the past I've been able to do it using the bcc in outlook express so that each recipient doesn't see the entire list of recipients. This is a newsgroup for Outlook, not Outlook Express. However, your questions are generic enough that some of them may apply to Outlook as well. However, this time I've been running into endless problems. Everytime I send it fails for one reason or another. Some recipients servers are now rejecting the email citing "too many recipients" as a reason. I'm also getting an error as follows: That's a message from your ISP. They won't let you send to that many people at one time. Reduce the number of people in your recipient list or, as Gordon says, use Mail Merge. However, you'll need to use Outlook for that, not Outlook Express. An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Seasons Greetings From Kenny!', Account: ', Server: 'iwfiorga.startlogic.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Blacklisted file extension detected', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC69 Never post your real address, if that's what this is, in a newsgroup. You're sending an attached file that the server 'iwfiorga.startlogic.com' has decided it will no longer accept. Whichever of your recpients using that mail server may be able to control that but you can't. And if one email address is rejected it seems the entire email fails, and none get sent (at least I hope that's the case, or some people are going to receive it a dozen times! Although I don't think that's the case cuz my name was in the list and I didn't receive any) It's the case for some errors (like the "too many recipients" error) but not for the blacklisting error. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
