I've been trying to get an answer on this for over one week, and I think Russ
may have given up on me. I've been using Outlook 2007 for 1 year without any problems. Then all of a sudden, my address book does not show any of my contacts. I've successfully created several new profiles, and still nothing. I've seen several other posts that seem to indicate that this is not uncommon. Help, please! Thanks! Dale |

I didn't give up. I told you what the next steps to take were and you never
posted back with the results or the information I requested. No need to start all over with a new thread. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "dale1948" wrote in message ... Hi Russ,
I did send 2 additional posts on the 13th and din't hear back. Sorry, I thought you gave up on me. I've followed your instructions precisely, i.e., set up new profile, and address book doesn't show up. Could it be anything else? "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: I didn't give up. No, I don't think so. As I said, I suspect you either didn't create the new
profile correctly or you didn't migrate your data to the new profile correctly. That's why I asked you for the precise steps you used so we could figure out what went wrong. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "dale1948" wrote in message ... Hi Russ,
I followed the exact procedure as outlined in MS Article # 829918, "How to create and configure an e-mail profile..." At this point, I have Outlook to prompt for a specific profile. But I do have a question about this article; nowhere does it mention if I need a new e-mail address for the new profile. I assume no, and used my current address. Next, I followed the procedure that you had sent me earlier, MS Article 287563. I have done the above, and undone, several times. I still have no address book. I've asked this question several times, with no answer. In the properties box of my contact folder bothe the check box and the "Show this folder as my e-mail address book..." are light gray. What does this mean? "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: No, I don't think so. Hi Brian,
To Add a new profile, I went to the Control PanelMailShow ProfilesAdd (I typed in a new name for profile), and entered account settings, using my existing e-mail address. I tested connection and got a successful indication. I then went back to the Mail Setup window, where I started this process, clicked on the new profile in Show Profilespropertiesdata files , and saw that the default folder was Outlook 8.pst. As I said in an earlier post, I created and undid profiles a number of times. I restarted Outlook, chose the new profile then clicked on Contacts tabFileFolderPropertiesOutlook Address Book. Contacts was the name of the address book, the box was checked but light gray. I confirmed that I actually received an e-mail in my in box of the new profile from the test connection. Where did I go wrong? There is nothing in the address book (Contacts) of either the original profile, or the new one I created. Brian,
I'm not sure what you mean about adding Outlook Address Book service. In the properties of the new profile, if I click on adress book, Outlook Address Book is listed, Type MAPI. If I need to do something else, can you tell me what, how? Thanks! "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "dale1948" wrote in message ... Brian,
There is post listed just below mine detailing the same problem in Outlook 2003. Russ suugests removing the Outlook Address Book. Closing Outlook, then open and add back to new profile. The new profile does list the Outlook Address Book, but it won't let me delete. "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "dale1948" wrote in message ...
