Here's the problem:
I just created a new e-mail profile. The old one got corrupted. Now, I can't figure out how to access the address book from my old profile. I've tried transferring all kinds of .pst files, backing up files, etc. Nothing works. I can only open the old address book when the old profile is open. Help! Thanks. |

Outlook has no address book so there was nothing to transfer. You Contact
data is in your Contacts Folder. Do you have your Contacts? If so, explain what you think is missing. I suspect you haven't configured the address book view in your new profile. Feel free to do so: http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Exmontrealer" wrote in message ... Here's the problem: I just created a new e-mail profile. Russ, thank you....
The address book in my old, corrupted profile looks fine. It contains all of my contacts. Even after configuring the address book in the new profile, I can't seem to grab the old contacts. Any other ideas? Much appreciated..... Michael "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Outlook has no address book so there was nothing to transfer. You Contact data is in your Contacts Folder. Then you must start providing at least some information. For starters, state
in detail how you "configured" your Outlook Address Book and what happened. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Exmontrealer" wrote in message ... Russ, thank you.... Thanks for being patient; this isn't my area of expertise.
From the beginning: I set up a new profile after Outlook suddenly stopped connecting with my POP account. With the new profile, it connected fine. I made backup copies of all old .pst files and tried to import them into Outlook while using the new profile. Like I said, my address book still exists in the old profile. But I can't seem to grab those contacts and insert them into my new profile. I've tried every fix I could find online. To "configure" the address book, I followed your instructions yesterday, but nothing. I may be mangling some of the lingo here - again, I'm not a tech person - but I hope this gives you enough information. Thanks. For starters, you would never import Outlook data to transfer it. Doing so
often fails to resolve the electronic addresses, which may be why they won't appear in the address book view. Try opening your old PST file in the profile, setting it as your default, restart Outlook, and close the PST file the new profile created and into which you attempted the import. After you configured the Outlook Address Book, can you see your Contacts Folder in the dropdown list in the address book view? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Exmontrealer" wrote in message ... ? I have a question to.
My hard drive had to be replaced and I backed up outlook. But unfortunately I lost all my address book contacts. I have found them under contacts, but there seems to be no way to transfer them to my address book. Can anyone help? I don't like the idea of having to manually add 243 address to my address book. Surely there must be a faster way? Regards Sheena "Exmontrealer" wrote: Here's the problem: I just created a new e-mail profile. The old one got corrupted. Surely there must be a faster way? Outlook's "address book is just a view of your Contacts. It doesn't contain any data on its own. Right-click Contacts, choose Properties, select the Outlook Address Book tab. Examine the "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book". If you can check it, do so, then restart Outlook. If you can't, you need to create a new maikl profile because the one you have is damaged because of how you transferred your data. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
