Default Creating separate contact list for another user on same computer

My wife has "inherited" my old laptop running Vista and Office 2007. I
created an email identity for her; she can send/receive email easily. The
question is --
How can I create a set of .pst files (I think that's what I need) so
she can click on "Contacts" and see hers instead of my old set of contacts?
She has an iPhone so we can sync her contacts with Outlook once I have her
established as an identity separate from mine.

Outlook doesn't use identities. What exactly do you mean?

Does she have a PST already? (She must or she wouldn't have "her" contacts.)
Point the mail profile at her PST instead of yours.

She has an iPhone so we can sync her contacts with Outlook once I have her
established as an identity separate from mine.

iTunes will sync with whatever mail profile is open at the time you connect
the device.

She does not have a .pst -- I need to create one for her and point the mail
profile at it instead of mine. ITunes has synced successfully; however, she
now has all my contacts on her phone along with those that were on her phone
before it synced. I can delete all the useless (my) contacts from her phone
but I need to find out how to create the .pst and point her email address to
those folders.

Thanks for anything you can do to help.

The first thing that's really necessary to know is whether your mail address
and hers are truly separate or aliases of each other. If your mail and hers
are delivered to the same mailbox on the mail server, then they're aliases and
it will be more problematic to separate them. Write back with this
information.

If the mail are separate, the best way to keep things on a PC private to a
person is for each person to have his or her own Windows login. Set that up
now. Everything else will fall out from that when she configures a mail
profile when using her own account.

If you really don't want to use separate logins, then open Control Panel and
start the Mail applet. Click Show Profiles and then click Add. Add a mail
profile for her, using E-mail Accounts to create the account and Data Files to
create her PST. Specify in the applet that Outlook should ask for the profile
when it starts. She can then select her profile and see her mail, her
contacts, and her calendar. Her phone will sync with that data when she
connects it.

Brian,

Thanks so much for your help; I did in fact create an account for my wife as
a separate user and when I opened Outlook there was nothing in it -- no
mail, no contacts i.e. PERFECT. After that it was easy to let her have her
own address book.

Thanks again and best regards from Maine,

LÃ*am
