When I create a contact or modify the properties of a contact within Outlook,
and the field "Display As" is by last name, first name, and I save it in Outlook XP, it ignores the display preference and places it in my address book/contact list alphabetized by first name. How do I get Outlook XP to display all contacts by last name, first name? Thanks. Jerry Atencio |

The Display As field would have nothing to do with the sort order in the
Outlook Address Book. What sort order did you specify for the Outlook Address Book? If you don't know, look: Tools E-mail accounts View or change existing directories or address books Outlook Address Book Change. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "JAtencio" wrote in message ... The address book display is not connected to the contact list display. To
change the address book display, check the following MSKB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;319142 -- Jocelyn Fiorello MVP - Outlook *** Messages sent to my e-mail address will NOT be answered -- please reply only to the newsgroup to preserve the message thread. *** "JAtencio" wrote: When I create a contact or modify the properties of a contact within Outlook, and the field "Display As" is by last name, first name, and I save it in Outlook XP, it ignores the display preference and places it in my address book/contact list alphabetized by first name. Thanks for the detailed instructions. Now then for all of the addresses
sorted by first name, how do I get them resorted by last name, or will this setting change automatically re-sort the list? Thanks again. As you should see, your two sort options are "First, Last" or "File As..."
So to sort by "Last, first" you'd need to be sure your File As fields are in Last, first" order, then specify "File As..." for your sort order. Be sure to restart the address book so your changes will take effect. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "JAtencio" wrote in message ... Thanks for the detailed instructions.
