Default Showing contacts as address book

Hi,

I just upgraded from Office 2000 to 2007. Everything seemed to work fine on
upgrading outlook until I tried to view my contacts as the outlook address
book. I found instructions on changing settings within outlook to make this
happen but nothing has worked so far.

Any help would be great!

What have you tried so far? Have you checked the Outlook Address book tab on
the property page of the folder?

I've tried this:

1. ToolsAccount SettingsAddress BooksThis is set as "Outlook Address
Book".

2. On the Contacts folderPropertiesOutlook Address BookName of the
address book is "Contacts" and the "Show this folder as an e-mail address
book is checked and grayed out.

Still need to know how you migrated your data to Outlook 2007. Have you made
sure you're displaying the correct Contacts Folder and not a new, empty one
the new profile might have created?

I'm not sure how to answer your question. I installed 2007 from the cd and I
believe that it asked if I wanted to upgrade the 2003 version that I already
had. When it was finished upgrading I opened outlook and my pst file was
showing with all the emails that I had before I upgraded.

If I look at the contacts in outlook it shows all of my contacts. If I open
a new email message and click on To it shows no contacts. It is looking at
the Outlook Address Book. If I use the drop down box to change to Contacts
it still sees no addresses.

It appears that I made a mistake in my initial post. I upgraded from Office
XP Pro 2003 to Office Standard 2007. Not 2000 to 2007.

There is the problem. Unlike other programs, you cannot upgrade an Outlook
installation because your Outlook profile becomes corrupt if you try. It's
ridiculous, I know, but it's true. In the future, remember always to install
Outlook clean.
It should be easy to remedy the problem by simply creating a new Outlook
profile. Before you do, however, make sure you know the location of your
current Outlook data file and then back it up for good measure.
Create a new Outlook profile as described he
http://support.microsoft.com/default...roduct=out2003
A new profile will create a new empty Outlook data file, which of course you
will not want to use. At that point, you will need to open your existing
Outlook data file in Outlook so that you can use it instead, then set it as
your default data file. Then restart Outlook and close the empty PST file
the new profile created. After that you should be able to set your Contacts
Folder as an Email Address Book and have it appear.

You provided no information that would permit us to help. If you need help
you must post which instructions you followed and what happened when you
tried.
All the instructions I know work just fine, including these:

The link worked now. That is the page of instructions that I completed
before posting this on the forum.
