When I try to send emails to people in my Contacts list, why do I get error
0x80070057? The emails entered are correct and I can send if I enter the actual email address instead of the contact name. The contacts were all imported from another Outlook 2007 account. |

If you create a new contact with an email address, can you send to that one?

Hi Vince, yes I can. This problem doesn't seem to apply to all the contacts I
imported but more to those with a specific category... "Vince Averello" wrote: If you create a new contact with an email address, can you send to that one? "SimonGuz" wrote in message ... Hmmm, if you remove the category from a contact, does that contact work?

No... when I checked the properties of the email address for one of these
contacts I got the following error message: "The name or distribution list is no longer a valid Address Book entry. The item could not be found." Re-entering the email address for the contact then meant I could send as usual... "Vince Averello" wrote: Hmmm, if you remove the category from a contact, does that contact work? What do you mean by "imported from another account"? You cannot import anything from an account. You can import something from a data store, however, like an Exchange mailbox or a Personal Folders file. Importing is almost a sure-fire way to destroy the resolution of the mail addresses in the Contacts records and that's one of the reasons why you should not use import/export to transfer data from one Outlook to another. There are better ways. Examine the email address in each of your contact records. Is it underlined? If you change a letter to itself in one of the addresses that doesn't work, then save the contact again, does it work then? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

I imported the contacts from a .pst file as I assumed that was the best way
to transfer data from one Outlook to another - clearly from your response that's not the case... The email addresses are all underlined but in some cases clicking on properties for the email address brings up the error message mentioned in my previous post. Retyping the address solves the problem so that's what I'll do to close this. One final question, what is the best way of transferring contacts from one Outlook to another?
