Why can't I use the Select Name window in Outlook 2003?
In the select names window (when click on To:, CC:, BCC
 All my options are grayed out and I have no options in the "Type Name or Select From List:" or "Show Names from the:" fields. I have over 800 contacts in my Outlook address book, and most have emails. How come I cannot use this option and how can I fix?

I think you might just be seeing the tip of an iceberg here....
So you have looked in the actual Contact folder and seen Contacst right? How did you get the Contact data into your Contact Folder? Did you "Import"? If so, you need to read Russ Valentine's numerous posts on all the problems caused by doing so. And how to get out of that mess. Why can't I use the Select Name window in Outlook 2003?
If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings: Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is the box to enable as email address book is checked? If this is grayed out... Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.
