I am running W7pro and Outlook 2007 SP2.
I make new pst files for each year and just did that for 2010. I do this so each years email is sorted and I can keep only a few years online for reference. This is my view of the My Contacts right pane in Contacts. Contacts Contacts in 2009 Contacts in 2008 The first folder or whatever is part of my 2010.pst. The second is part of my 2009.pst, etc. How can I rename the Contacts item or folder to Contacts in 2010? Right clicking will not work. The left-click properies do not lead to a name change dialog. I have done this in Outlook 2003 but can't remember how. Thanks |

You cannot rename a default folder.
Do you really need separate PST files? Why wouldn't separate folders do? -- Russ Valentine "Digitalic" wrote in message ... I am running W7pro and Outlook 2007 SP2. Thanks Russ,
Your post made me think more about this. My mistake was in thinking I had renamed the other contacts folders when I migrated from 2003 to 2007. I did not; they get automatically assigned the 'Contacts in' pre script when you File / Open / Outlook Data File... The current default folder and destination for email inbox is always shown as: Contacts or Calendar. I see now. My reasons for using separate pst files are not so valid these days but I like having them separate now. I started using this method in 1997. I can leave the old ones unmounted unless I need to look at them. "Russ Valentine" wrote: You cannot rename a default folder. Do you really need separate PST files?
