sending emails by the state catagory

Default sending emails by the state catagory

I have about 1,700 email addrerss. I need to send out emails by the state
they live in. I can't seam to do this. One way if possible, if i can change
the display name to state in the select contacts box. Any suggestions?

Display the Contacts in a table view. Right-click the State field
header and choose Group By This Field. Select all the entries in the
group and click ActionsNew Message to Contact.

Or instead of New Message to Contact, use Tools | Mail Merge
