Default Company name auto reformat

I have developed a custom form using the Company Name field. When I enter in
'Test Company' it keeps the same format, but when I enter in 'La Madeleine'
it reformats the name to 'Madeleine, La'. Is there any way to stop this
behavior?

The same thing happens when you enter 'El Toro' ;o)

Note: The same thing happens when you use the base contact form and enter
'La Madeleine' into the Company field, with no option to reformat it under
File As.
