Default need to recover archived e-mail, presumably from an archive**.edb

I can't find any missing e-mail on a "recovered" hard drive instalation.
Nothing like *.pst, *.ost, *.dbx. I was able to get the .edb archive files
but either thay have nothing I need in them or I can't open them. Would
really like to get my old e-mails back!
