I use Tasks to keep a record of my dealings with clients. I have been trying
to design a Task form which allows me to inter alia keep a record of each
discussion. On Page 2 I've tried to set up a number of "Contact Date" fields.
I've set up each field as a Date field but I don't get a drop down pointer
which allows me to enter a date from the calendar. I have to enter the date
by typing it in. Is there a way of setting up each field to bring up the
calendar?

In versions before Outlook 2007, Outlook has no date picker control available to programmers (which, by the way, is one reason why the first page of the appointment, journal, and task forms is not editable). See http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx?id=26 for controls you can add.

Outlook 2007 includes its own Outlook-aware date and time picker controls for use with the new form regions feature, but not with traditional custom forms.

2007 Professional. So if there is a way that I may design a form which I can

If your heart is set on using a date picker, you might want to explore the new forms region feature. There are some detailed articles in the developer Help, and we can help you with the specifics of setting up the region manifest once you get to that point.

Or use the legacy custom forms architecture and just type it in, using OUtlook's date shortcuts.

Can I design forms in the form regions feature in the same way as I was able
to design forms in the older Outlook versions, ie by dragging fields onto a
page, and if so how do I do this?

Start a form region design session by putting a form into design mode, then on the Developer tab of the ribbon, choose Form Region | New Form Region. After that, it's drag and drop just like in a regular form. You will want to read the articles in Outlook developer Help on registering and deploying a form region; the process is very different from that for legacy custom forms.

Hi Sue, thanks for your patience. I have done that but I still can't seem to
set the properties for, say, a date field to reflect the date picker. I've
dragged a "completed date" field and a "user defined" field which I've set as
a Date/Time type but no success with the date picker. If this function is not
possible in a drag and drop or menu select type function then I'll give up. I
don't want to have to get involved with code if I don't have to. Thanks

The date control does not appear in the control toolbox by default. You'll need to add them. Right-click in the toolbox and choose Custom Controls, then add the Microsoft Outlook Date control. Once you add the control to the control toolbox, you can drag it to the form region. Right-click the added control and go to its Value tab to bind it to an Outlook property.
