Default Message class woes?

Hi all,

I have a custom contacts form (IPM.Contact_1) that some of my contacts
were based on. I want to get them all back to the default contact
form. I think (from reading this newsgroup) that I need to change the
message class for some of my contacts, and I tried several of the apps
that do that, and they did change the displayed message class from
IPM.Contact_1 to IPM.Contact, but the form itself appears the same
when I open the contact. That is, it's not back to the default
Outlook form.

I tried changing all contacts over to another form and then back to
IPM.Contact, just to see if that would reset anything, but no luck.

This only affects those contacts that were created when the default
contact form was IPM.Contact_1. All others open in the default
Outlook form correctly.

I'm using Outlook 2007 but I've had this problem for a few years and
I'm just now getting around to doing something about it.

Any ideas? (I can provide screen shots if the words aren't quite
clear enough to capture what I'm talking about.)

Thanks!

Compare the size of one of these problem items with the size of a contact that has roughly the same data but doesn't show the custom form layout. Is the problem item considerably larger?

Why yes it is... about 10x as large. I'm guessing that means you have
an idea what has happened?

Thanks!

It means the form has one-offed, become embedded in the item. Cleaning that up will involve CDO 1.21 code. See http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx?id=34 -- the section on Cleaning up One-Off Items at the bottom of the page.
