Default Outlook 2003 did not register as a Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)

Need some help.

It's my understanding that Office applications such as Outlook and Word
register as WIA applications, allowing cameras and scanners to open these
applications and directly download and scan into Outlook and Word.

These are the applications that show up in the Events tab or the devices
properties. For example, here is a screen shot of a device, my Canon
PowerShot A620 camera, that allows me to determine what applications load
based on certain events -- in this case, what application processes the
images when the camera is connect. Notice that MS Word is in the list.

These applications are stored in the registry in a couple of places that I
could find:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\St illImage\Events\STIProxyEvent\{5F4BAAD0-4D59-4FCD-B213-783CE7A92F22}

Where the Class ID is that of the application that loads. Other control sets
have the same entries.

I'm wondering why Outlook is not registered in this list. I know that it can
be done having read from other forums that people are scanning directly into
Outlook.

Short of uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook, (which may not work), is
there a utility or some sort management console that will easily allow me to
manipulate this list, short of hacking the registry?

Thanks!

JR
