I am looking for some general advice on how to accomplish a task. I
have a database of contacts in Microsoft Access. I want to write a VBA script in Outlook to connect to this database and import these contacts. The database isn't in the exact format I need, so I was thinking of using ADO to connect to the database, creating a CSV the way I need it on the fly, then importing that CSV into Outlook. I would then like to deploy this script to several users in our company. I am familiar enough with ADO, VBA, and the fileSystemObject to make this work, but is this the best way to go about this? I also have no idea how to deploy it. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

No need to create a .csv. Just use ADO code to return the information from the database, then create new Outlook items, starting with the CreateItem() method.
Deploy? If this is for use by multiple people, then you should be creating a COM add-in, not using VBA. There is no supported method to deploy VBA code; see http://www.outlookcode.com/d/distributevba.htm -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.turtleflock.com/olconfig/index.htm and Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx wrote in message oups.com... I've dabbled in Visual Studio.net, but not a lot - would I be using that and/or the Office Developer Kit to create the COM object? |

Not "COM object" but COM add-in. You need VB6, Delphi, or Visual Studio. See:
