see http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...96054&SiteID=1

This seems like a really good thing if, like me, you are targeting OL2003+
because :

a) You don't have to pay for VSTO 2005 (US$550 upgr) and
b) You can now target Office 2003 Standard users as well as Pro users

I know this doesn't help those who target OL2002 and earlier but it would
seem to be a positive announcement for many others. I'm interested in your
perspectives and any clarification on the statement on the download page for
VSTO 2005 SE :

"no document-level customizations or other functionality that is part of the
full version of Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office (VSTO 2005) is installed".

ie what is the other functionality that may be missing for OL developers?

Tx, Tad

That refers to document-level projects for Word and Excel, as supported in VSTO 2005. It has nothing to do with Outlook add-ins .

I know but is there other functionality that VSTO 2005 provides that VSTO
2005 SE does not, with respect to Outlook add-ins?

Sue, does VSTO 2005 SE support Outlook 2003 Standard? I know it supports all
SKU's of Outlook 2007 but I thought the build requirements for Outlook 2003
were the same as before?

Good question. I haven't checked that out. My guess is that you still need Pro to develop, but that the add-in will run on Standard.
