Default Shell command

How do I kick off a macro in Access through Outlook? Shell command?

I have reminders set up that will kick off macros in Outlook. However, I
want one to kick off a macro inside a certain database.

I thought I could use a shell command but I'm not having much luck.

Any help getting started would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

You need to look into ActiveX automation. You could write VBA code in
Outlook that automate MS Access and run the macros in it.

Be warned that automating application such as MS Access application is not
simple task and may not be a good solution in many or most cases, especially
if the macro in MS Access is purely doing data manipulation. I only consider
to use MS Access automation in such scenario might be acceptable approach:

1. Uer start Outlook, does something;
2. Then he run a VBA macro in Outlook that launches your MS Access
application;
3. After MS Access application started, macro in MS Access app runs. The
macro somehow requires getting input from certain form in order to
manipulate data in the database
4. Very likely, after the MS Access macro run, the user need to interact
with the MS Access app.

IMO, if the user does not need to do anything in MS Access after run Outlook
macro, and the macro in MS Access does not need to get input from forms to
process data, there is no need to automate MS Access and even MS Access
installation is not needed. You can direcctly manipulate data in MS Accecss
database through ADO/DAO. It simple, fast.
