Thanks for your reply. By "opening a file to compose a new message", I meant
doing this entirely within Outlook, ie, File / New / Mail Message (or Control
+ n). I am using MSWord2003 as my e-mail...

Yes, Outlook2003 did remove Outlook97. I also totally removed OffPro97 and
Outlook2003, and assuming it was a layering issue, and assuming they frequent
instructions to install in pogressive...
