I cannot receive email from my mail server in OE. I acted on all
suggestions, including turning off my email scanning. And what do you know?
Norton AV software turns it on again, so of course...

Thank you, I just downloaded the Norton AV 2007 update which includes a
firewall, so that resolves that issue. I'm still gettiing the same error
message 0x800cccof, and now I'll try turning off...

I have a question about turning off the email scanning in Norton anitvirus.
Is there a relationship between their email scanning feature and firewalls?
Because they require me to have my firewall...
