Outlook Express hangs while receiving
The email that won't download is blocking the rest - move all to another
folder, then move each back one by one, and download - when you hit the one
that won't download, delete it from the server....

It could be a problem with your AV scanner - disable the scan of outgoing

Problem opening .png in an OE NNTP newsgroup
Suspect malware!! - do you have viewing of extensions enabled? - if not, and
you can see the .png extension for this file, then it's almost certainly a
Trojan.

unfortunately (It's never been a problem for me, but I have heard of one or
two instances where the OE scanner wasn't fully...
