It appears to me if you want to make a "Copy of" your *.PST file just move
it to another directory then Outlook won't see it. I did this with my

Sorting Contacts
If I understand your post, why don't you try using Categories. I use
Categories to brake down my contacts into groups like Friends, Family, etc.
