Splitting a distribution list in Outlook.

R click and drag the DL then select "Copy" to make a copy of it. Rename it
and remove the members from the copy that you don't want in the split.

If you enter the data correctly it will display correctly. Outlook only

Distribution List members

You would have to export them to a format that Outlook can import. Then you
import them into your Contacts Folder.
You would never attempt to create a DL from that many Contacts.

There is no address book in Outlook. It is only a view of your Contacts
Folder. It should never be used for data entry or editing. Do that in your
